Mission Statement
Founded in 1972, the Granby Land Trust preserves Granby's natural heritage through the conservation of its scenic and historic vistas, open space corridors, wildlife habitat, ecologically sensitive areas, and agricultural land.
We seek to achieve this mission through strategic land acquisition, responsible land stewardship, effective partnerships with other land conservation organizations, public education, and advocacy for environmentalism and conservation.
The GLT maintains public trails on a number of its properties. Providing our community with opportunities to get outside, exercise and reconnect with nature is important to us.
The Granby Land Trust is nationally accredited.

A wintery view from the GLT’s Frances B. Petersen Preserve. Located on Broad Hill Road in West Granby, this 30-acre parcel features views to the west. The Petersen Preserve abuts the Blackington Family, Beman Family, and Beverly Goodwin Preserves, as well as the GLT’s Diamond Ledges Preserve, which was donated by Mary Edwards. When combined, these GLT properties make up almost 90 acres of protected land abutting the McLean Game Refuge and the Town of Granby/Friends of Holcomb Farm.
