Granby Land Trust

Founded in 1972, the Granby Land Trust (GLT) works to preserve Granby’s natural heritage through the conservation of its scenic vistas, open space corridors, wildlife habitat, ecologically sensitive areas, and agricultural land.

The GLT has protected 3,471 acres, as it owns 2,401 acres of land and holds conservation easements on an additional 1,070 acres. The Land Trust is committed to environmental education and provides and maintains walking trails on a number of its preserves.

The Land Trust earned National Accreditation by the Land Trust Alliance in 2014 and renewed its Accreditation in 2019, proving that it is committed to professional excellence, responsible governance and lasting stewardship of its properties.

📣 GLT EVENT ANNOUNCEMENT – Annual Spring Bird Walks 🐦‍⬛: Join us for a Land Trust tradition, our Mother’s Day Weekend Spring Migration Bird Walks - Saturday, Sunday & Monday, May 10, 11 (full already), and 12 - led by expert birders John Weeks and Christine Chinni. These walks will take place on the GLT’s Dismal Brook Wildlife Preserve, 253 Loomis Street in North Granby and will start promptly at 7:00AM. You’ll see a variety of birds at this time of year, as they return from a winter away. Participants should be sure to bring binoculars. TO REGISTER, email John Weeks at aerie.john@cox.net. Please specify which day you prefer (May 11 is now full).
