Snakes, Turtles, and Frogs – Oh My!
April 20, 2023 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm
Enjoy learning about Connecticut’s snakes, turtles and frogs, commonly referred to as ‘herps,’ with Master Wildlife Conservationist Ginny Apple. Hear details about the important role amphibians and reptiles play in the ecosystem, and let Ginny clear up any misconceptions about these creatures slithering, paddling or jumping along the trail beside you. Find out how CT DEEP (Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection) works to combat threats to the herps’ habitat. This program is appropriate for adults and children 10 years and older. There will be no live animals at the presentation.
Register to attend. Then look for a confirmation email from Engaged Patrons. Program updates, such as a change of location, will be communicated via email from Engaged Patrons. If your computer’s security settings are strong the email may be found in our Spam/Junk folder.
Sponsored by Granby Public Libraries and Granby Land Trust.
About the presenter:
A native Texan, Ginny Apple was one of the first full-time women sportswriters in the country, who left the field mid-career to pursue a path in communications/public relations. Through the years she has hiked, climbed, kayaked, skied, and poked her way through the outdoors and developed a passion for all things natural.
A move to the middle of the woods in Barkhamsted over a decade ago brought her into an environment filled with bears and other wildlife. Living in a house surrounded by Peoples State Forest, she observes a large population of Black Bears and supplies field notes and photographs on them to DEEP bear biologists. Her affinity for this magnificent creature led her out west to participate in a Grizzly research mission in Montana and to become a Master Wildlife Conservationist with the State Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.
