Fishers in Connecticut – A Virtual Program
December 28, 2021 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm
One of the largest members of the weasel family, fishers are shy and elusive mammals that were once hunted and eradicated from much of New England. They were reintroduced in the forested regions of the state over 40 years ago and although viewed as a threat to domestic birds, rabbits and cats, they are an important and valuable natural resource. Master Wildlife Conservationist Paul Colburn presents a detailed history of the fisher in Connecticut, including an overview of their habitat, diet, behavior, and a special feature of their reproduction, delayed implantation.
