Wings and Wattles: Everything You Need to Know About Turkeys

November 17 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Master Conservationist Ginny Apple offers a timely presentation about the wild turkey. Learn about snoods, wattles, beards, and beaks. There’s lots to gobble about with this American icon, including their super vision, emotionally expressive head coloring, turkey talk (purrs, clucks, and yelps), and surprising ability to run and fly faster than you might think. Get the facts behind the feathers.

Please register to attend.

Sponsored by Granby Public Library and Granby Land Trust.

A native Texan, Ginny Apple has hiked, climbed, kayaked, skied, and poked her way through the outdoors and developed a passion for all things natural.  A move to the middle of the woods in Barkhamsted over a decade ago brought her into an environment filled with bears and other wildlife. Living in a house surrounded by Peoples State Forest, she regularly observes and documents a large population of black bears for state biologists. Her affinity for this magnificent creature led her out west to participate in a Grizzly research mission in Montana and to become a Master Wildlife Conservationist with the Connecticut State Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.
